Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday hosted his best performing Indian contingent in the Deaf Olympics at his residence.

Sharing photos of the meeting, Prime Minister Modi tweeted, "I will never forget my interactions with champions who have made India proud at the Deaf Olympics. The athletes shared their experiences and I could see the passion and determination in them. My best wishes to all of them."

"It is because of our champions that this year's Olympics for the deaf has been the best for India," he said.

It is noteworthy that India won a total of 17 medals including eight gold, one silver and eight bronze medals in the 24th Deaf Olympics held in Brazil.
