'Maruti recalls 17,362 cars to fix faulty airbag controller'

The country's largest automaker Maruti Suzuki India (MIS) has recalled 17,362 cars to check faulty airbags. These cars belong to the Alto K10, Brezza and Baleno models.

Maruti Suzuki informed the stock market on Wednesday that it has recalled the cars of Alto K10, S-Presso, Eeco, Brezza, Baleno and Grand Vitara models affected by the airbag controller for testing. All these cars of the company were made between December 8, 2022 and January 12, 2023. The company said that these cars are being recalled for the airbag controller to be checked and replaced, if required, free of cost.

The MIS said in the statement that there is a possibility of a defect in the affected part, due to which the airbag and seat belt pretensioner may not function properly in the event of an accident. Car owners are, therefore, advised to drive with extreme caution till the affected part is replaced. According to Maruti Suzuki, affected vehicle owners should immediately contact an authorized workshop of the company. Apart from this, the affected vehicle owners are also being contacted by the company itself.
