'AIBA Women's World Boxing Championships postponed to March 2022'

The AIBA Women's World Boxing Championships to be held in Istanbul from 06 to 19 December has been postponed to March 2022.

Organizers said AIBA is working hard to keep the event, but the response received is that many national federations are facing difficult conditions and sanctions within their countries.

The Turkish National Federation, with the consensus of AIBA's Board of Directors, has decided to postpone the Women's World Championships to March 2022.

"We are aware that some teams have started preparing for this event and we will be disappointed," AIBA President Omar Kremlev said.

"However, the safety and well-being of our athletes, officials and other stakeholders is a priority, so we cannot afford to take this event forward," he added.
