'The new version of the corona virus 'Omicron' became a cause for concern'

The World Health Organization (WHO) has named the new variant B.1.1529 of the corona virus found in Botswana, South Africa, as Omicron, which has been described as a cause of concern. Viruses in this category (variant of concern) are considered highly contagious. The Delta variant was also placed in the same category.

Even before this variant appeared, cases of corona infection were increasing in many countries of Europe and other regions including Britain, Germany and Russia. In Russia, a record number of people were also dying due to this epidemic. Now after the introduction of this new variant, panic has spread in the world.

The first case of infection with the B.1.1.529 variant was reported from WHO on 24 November 2021 in South Africa. However, infection with this variant was detected on 9 November 2021 from a sample that came for the test.

WHO Director General Tedros Adhanam Ghebreyesus said in a tweet that the new Kovid-19 variant has a large number of mutations of Omicron, some of which are quite worrying. That's why we have to be aware of the vaccine. To understand the impact, a comprehensive investigation will have to be done so that appropriate arrangements can be made keeping in mind its risks and public health.

Let us inform that these days in South Africa, the number of people infected with this strain of corona virus is increasing rapidly. Earlier there was an outbreak of Delta variant here.
