The central government has given a big relief to the people who are facing inflation. The government has reduced the central excise duty on petrol by Rs 8 and on diesel by Rs 6 per liter. After this, public sector oil marketing companies on Sunday cut the prices of petrol and diesel by Rs 8.69 and Rs 7.35 per liter respectively in the capital Delhi.

According to the new rate of oil companies, petrol in the capital Delhi will get Rs 96.72 per liter, while diesel will be available at Rs 89.62 per liter. In the country's financial capital Mumbai, the price of petrol has come down to Rs 111.35 and diesel to Rs 97.28 per liter. The price of petrol in Kolkata is Rs 106.03, while the price of diesel is Rs 92.76 per litre. Petrol in Chennai will cost Rs 102.63 per liter and diesel Rs 94.24 per liter.



It is noteworthy that after the reduction in excise duty on petrol and diesel by the central government, the Kerala and Rajasthan governments have also reduced VAT. The Rajasthan government has cut Value Added Tax (VAT) on petrol by Rs 2.48 per liter and on diesel by Rs 1.16 per liter after reduction in excise duty. After this reduction, petrol has become cheaper by Rs 10.48 and diesel by Rs 7.16 per liter in the state. The Kerala government has also announced a reduction in VAT on petrol by Rs 2.41 per liter and on diesel by Rs 1.36 per liter.
