'Indian women's hockey team returned home after winning the Women's Nations Cup, received a grand reception'

After winning the inaugural edition of the FIH Women's Nations Cup 2022 in Valencia, the Indian women's hockey team arrived in New Delhi on Monday morning to a grand welcome. Along with winning the Nations Cup title, the Indian women's hockey team has also qualified for the 2023-24 FIH Hockey Women's Pro League.



Captain Savita said, “As a captain, I am very proud and happy to be with my teammates. Everyone gave their 100% during the FIH Women's Nations Cup 2022 and we have maintained our focus on and off the field since the beginning and it feels really great to be a part of such a team.”



Savita also said that the Indian women's hockey team is not taking its foot off the pedal and is eyeing next year's calendar.



He said, “2022 has been a good year for us and going forward we will continue to aim for more wins and titles. We have Asian Games 2022 next year and we will definitely try to come back with good results.



India beat Spain 1-0 in the final of the FIH Women's Nations Cup 2022 thanks to Gurjit Kaur's lone goal.



Gurjeet Kaur said, “Winning the final at the FIH Women's Nations Cup 2022 is the best moment for me and the team. That was our goal from the beginning and it felt really good to be able to achieve it."



Forward Lalremsiami also completed 100 matches for the Indian women's hockey team at the tournament in Valencia.



Lalremsiami said, “To be able to reach the 100 match mark at such a young age is something that gives me immense pleasure. And I'm so grateful for the continued support of everyone on the team. We are very happy to have won the FIH Women's Nations Cup 2022, and we will continue to work hard going forward."
