The Chairman/Chief Executive Councillors, LAHDC, Leh Advocate Tashi Gyalson convened a meeting of Col Amit Mahra Col Works HIMANK, OC 81 RCC B. Kishan, SE PWD, Leh Predeep Sharma, ACD, Leh Sonam Norboo and Executive Officer Municipal Committee, Leh Stanzin Rabgais in presence of Deputy Commissioner Leh/ Chief Executive Officer LAHDC, Leh Sachin Kumar at Council Secretariat Leh today and impressed upon all the officers and engineers to ensure speedy implementation of the use of Bhoti language on all the milestone and signage in Leh district at the earliest and directed them to report DC, Leh accordingly.
“It is a small step initiated by Hill Council Leh towards the preservation and promotion of Bhoti language which is the identity of Ladakhi people and is also directly connected with the sentiments and emotions of local people”. Said CEC Gyalson and stressed upon all the agencies to ensure close coordination with DC, Leh and consult local Bhoti knowing experts in writing correct names of the villages in Bhoti as well as in English and other languages on the milestone and signage.
The meeting also discussed the opening of internal link roads under the control of BRO and other link roads in the district during snowfall. CEC directed DC, Leh to share the list of link roads with BRO so that they could assist district administration Leh in clearance of roads during snowfall in winter.
CEC also directed Executive Officer Municipal Committee, Leh Stanzin Rabgais to design a simple uniform design of sign board for all the shops and business establishments in Leh market and directed him to consult ALTOA, Leh and other stakeholders in this regard.
