'Woman among 11 drug peddlers arrested in Kupwara in last 1 week: Police'

A woman among 11 notorious drug peddlers have been arrested along with contraband substances from different areas of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, police said on Sunday. 

In a statement, issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), 11 notorious drug peddlers of different areas including one lady have been arrested in the last one week along with contrabands in 7 separate cases.

The statement reads that cases have been registered under relevant sections of NDPS act at police station Kupwara.

“All these peddlers have been quite instrumental in the proliferation of drug trafficking within and outside the district. Busting their operational network has sent strong signals across the length and breadth about unyielding approach of the police in drug free society.”

The drug peddlers have been identified as Faisal Akhoon son of Mohd Jamal Akhoon, Asif Ahmed Khan son of Mohd Yousuf Khan, Qaiser Ahmed Sofi son of Saunaullah Sofi, Tabish Ahmed Najar son of Nazir Ahmed Najar, Ghulam din Khan son of Mohd Maqbool Khan, Mumtaz Ahmad Khan som of Ab Rasheed Khan, Ab Rasheed Ganai son of Mohd Kamal Ganai, Imtiyaz Ahmed Pathan son of Ayoub Ahmed Pathan, Shabir Ahmed Lone son of Bashir Ahmed Lone, Nayeema Ahmad alias Saima daughter of Gulam Ahmed—all residents of Kupwara and Mohd Akbar Khan son of Mohd Younis Khan of Ganderbal.
