There has been a slight improvement in the pollution level in Delhi-NCR as compared to yesterday. According to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR), Delhi's average air quality index (AQI) was recorded at 431 on Saturday morning. On Friday it was 472. However, the pollution situation in Delhi-NCR still remains in the severe category. The situation in Noida and Gurugram adjoining Delhi remains bad. The AQI is 529 in Noida and 478 in Gurugram.

According to SAFAR, stubble burning is responsible for up to 34 percent of the smoke and rising pollution levels in Delhi NCR. Explain that under the Air Quality Index, 0-100 is considered good. 100-200 is considered moderate, 200-300 poor and 300-400 extremely poor. An index above this is considered in the hazardous category.

In view of the pollution situation in Delhi, primary schools have been closed and instructions have been issued to stop outdoor activities for students studying above class 6. With this, diesel-run trucks and commercial vehicles have been banned in Delhi. The situation is expected to improve from Sunday due to the wind blowing in Delhi.
