Indian Army has always contributed in nation building not only when it comes to war but also by providing aid in various critical situation whether it be internal security, natural calamities or providing guidance and education in insurgency affected areas. Women have always been an important part of society, their contribution to society and nation building has helped in achieving greatest of milestones. The Army unit at Samote, come out with the idea of imparting training to empower women residing in remote pockets of its area of responsibility with stitching skill to make them self- reliant.
Women Empowerment Node has been established and Dress Making classes for women were commenced at village Dhar Sakri. A total of ten women were trained for duration of 20 days from 11 Nov 2022 to 30 Nov 2022. During the classes these women were imparted with practical training in tailoring, stitching and sewing technology skills. This initiative is part of holistic effort to the Army towards women empowerment. This will reduce women’s dependency on male members of the family for their sustenance thereby making them efficient in facing daily struggles on their household with confidence.
A total number of 23 persons (including 01 Sarpanch, 14 womens & 08 locals) witnessed the closing ceremony of Dress Making Classes. The general public of village Dhar Sakri conveyed their gratitude for this innovative idea of Army in improving the quality of life of women in such remote area. The aspiring women trainees said that the professional skills imparted to them will surely help them achieve independence and they would be able to efficiently run their family towards a more optimistic future.
