ISRO's heaviest rocket 'LVM-3' will launch 36 satellites of the British startup from Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh. The 24-hour countdown for the launch began at 12:07 midnight on Friday. 'LVM-3-M2/OneWeb India-1 Mission' will be launched on 23 October (22 October midnight) at 12:07 IST.



OneWeb is a private satellite communications company. Bharti Enterprises of India is a major investor and shareholder in OneWeb. With this launch, LVM-3 will enter the global commercial satellite launch market. 'LVM-3' was earlier known as 'GSLV Mk-3' rocket. NewSpace India Limited, a public sector central enterprise (CPSI) functioning under the Department of Space and the space agency's commercial arm, has signed two launch contracts with UK-based OneWeb.

NewSpace India Limited, which works under the Department of Space, said that this will be the first commercial launch from us through 'LVM-3'. He said that next year also 36 satellites will be launched through 'LVM-3'.
