In order to boost sports activities in the State of Jammu and Kashmir and promote local traditional sports amongst the youth of the remote areas, Indian Army unit at Samote organized Dangal and Kabaddi League at Budhal (Rajouri District) with effect from 01 Oct to 05 Oct 2022.
A total of 11 teams participated in Kabaddi Competition from the areas of Budhal, Draj, Banna, Kotranka, Tuli, Gota and Gabber in Rajouri and Reasi District. The Kabaddi Competition was conducted on knock out basis. The final match of Kabaddi Competition was played between the teams of Govt Higher Secondary School Gota V/s Govt Higher Secondary School Budhal B and Govt Higher Secondary School Budhal B team won the match.
A total of 54 individuals participated in Dangal Competition under three weight categories of 50-60kg, 60-70kg and 70-80kg from Budhal, Draj, Banna, Kotranka, Tuli, Gota and Gabber. The Dangal & Kabaddi League has always been a major attraction, where, local villagers/schools cheer for their respective teams.
At the end of the competition, the winners and the runners up were felicitated with prizes. A total of 225 locals witnessed the gripping finals of the Dangal & Kabaddi League.
Prominent locals, Village elders, Sarpanchs and Panchs have expressed their sincere thanks and gratitude towards Indian Army for this noble initiative of promoting local traditional sports events. Such inventiveness and ingenuity of Indian Army will go a long way in bridging the gap between Army and the AWAM.
