A magnitude 6.8 earthquake occurred 77 kilometers southeast of Fayzabad in Afghanistan. In Pakistan, strong tremors were felt in various cities of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, including the capital Islamabad. According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, the epicenter of the earthquake was the Hindukush region of Afghanistan, while its depth was 180 km. Tremors were felt in Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar, Jhelum, Sheikhupura, Swat, Nowshera, Multan, Swat, Shangla and other places. After the earthquake, there was an atmosphere of panic in the country. People were forced to run away from their homes.

At least two people were killed and six injured in incidents of roof, wall and house collapse in the province, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Disaster Management Authority reported. Eight houses have been damaged here due to the earthquake. Police officer in Swat district, Shafiullah Gandapur, said nine people had died in the district, while more than 100 people were injured. The roof of a house collapsed due to the tremors in Swabi in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province. Five members of a family were injured in this.

The Bahrain-Kalam road was blocked due to landslides triggered by the earthquake. Due to the earthquake, people got scared and came on the streets. At the time of the earthquake, a stampede-like situation had developed in the markets of Rawalpindi. Tremors were also felt in Peshawar, Kohat and Swabi of Pakistan. Apart from this, earthquake tremors were also felt in Lahore, Quetta and Rawalpindi. Panicked people came out of their houses. Tremors were also felt in Gujranwala, Gujarat, Sialkot, Kot Momin, Madh Ranjha, Chakwal, Kohat and Gilgit-Baltistan areas of Pakistan.
