'100 Sainik Schools to be opened across the country, 194 registered'

So far, 194 schools have been registered under the scheme to open 100 Sainik Schools across the country to provide value based education to the children as per the National Policy on Education (NEP). All these schools will be affiliated to the existing Sainik Schools of the Ministry of Defence. In the first phase, the help of states, NGOs and private partners is being taken to open 100 schools. Approved schools will implement Sainik School syllabus from next academic year.

The Government of India has decided to open 100 Sainik Schools across the country to inculcate in the children the rich culture and heritage of the nation, character, discipline, spirit of national duty and patriotism in line with the National Education Policy (NEP). The Union Cabinet has also approved the proposal to start Sainik Schools affiliated to the Sainik Schools Committee of the Ministry of Defence. These schools would be different and different from the existing Sainik Schools of the Ministry of Defence. In the first phase, online applications were sought in this regard from states, non-government organizations, private partners. As on the last date of January 21, 194 schools have been 'registered' on the portal https:ainikschool.ncog.gov.in.



Now after this the School Evaluation Committee at the district level will evaluate these schools and report to the Sainik School Committee by the last week of this month. The District Magistrate, the Principal of Navodaya Vidyalaya Sangathan or Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan located in the same district, the Principal of the nearest Sainik School has been placed in the Evaluation Committee as the Chairman. The schools which are approved by the Sainik Schools Committee will implement the Sainik School syllabus from the next academic year i.e. April 2022. Information on other aspects of school management including teachers' training, sports and extra-curricular activities will be given separately. The principle of 'One School One Sports' will also be implemented in the new Sainik Schools to focus on at least one sporting activity for that state.
